House Sparrow has been introduced in New York City (and from there in North America) in 1852; in New Zealand (and from there in many Pacific islands, including Hawai) in 1859; in Australia at Melbourne in 1863; and in Buenos Aires and South America around 1870. Introduction to South Africa of both a European and an Indian subspecies was done around 1900. House Sparrow is considered the most widely distributed bird on the planet.
